Much of our work was done to the interior walls and ceilings. This included old plaster repair and replacement of old lath and plaster on all existing first floor ceilings. The existing ceilings were removed to allow hot water heat tubes to be installed in the floor above. The contractor then added insulation, and the ceiling was replastered.
We used a conventional plaster and rock lath on these ceilings to match the fire-retardant quality of the original rock lath and 1/2" thick gypsum basecoat plaster.
All walls of the existing home were also repaired and resurfaced by us. We used a bonding agent and a veneer plaster system.
The new addition included on the second floor a master bedroom, master bath, closets, hall, and an elevator. The first floor contained a large garage, a hall, and the elevator.
The new rooms were plastered with a combination of two coat veneer plaster and conventional plaster systems.
The garage ceiling was plastered with a conventional rock lath and lightweight gypsum plaster. This was finished with a smooth plaster finish. This system of plaster is a four (4) hour fire rated ceiling, which is more than required for the fire code. The common house wall was also plastered with the same materials for the same fire code requirement.
